Region of Bern

Would you like to extend your stay? In addition to the charming federal city of Bern, the canton of Bern has much more to offer as it is one of the most diverse regions in Switzerland. From deep blue lakes to the three world-famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain peaks, from vibrant cities to idyllic countryside – the region offers destinations to suit every taste.

We have put together some ideas for you.

Are you an adrenaline junkie? In the Holiday Region Interlaken you can let off steam on the water, on land and even in the air, as Interlaken is Europe's number one destination for outdoor and adventure sports. From gentle "soft adventures" such as paragliding or kayaking to pure adrenaline with canyoning or bungee jumping, there is something for everyone.

Get an adrenaline rush: Adventure world between mountains and lakes

The Schilthorn offers some of the best panoramic views in the Alps. The Piz Gloria panorama restaurant at the summit, which rotates on its axis in 45 minutes, offers a 360° view of 200 mountain peaks, including Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Where better to broaden your horizons than in the Bernese Alps? The Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg region has 300 kilometres of hiking trails. These lead across green meadows and through cosy forests, always accompanied by breathtaking views and water: high waterfalls, rushing mountain streams or enchanting mountain lakes. It is not only a hiking paradise but also a water region where you can swim, row or simply relax in the cool waters.

Discover the paradise: Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg

The Gstaad holiday region is not only the land of cows, but also the land of fondue. A must-do is a hike to an oversized caquelon, equipped with a retro-look fondue rucksack, to enjoy the Swiss national dish in the middle of nature. Or descend 25 metres underground to the cheese grotto, where more than 3,000 wheels of maturing cheese are stored. This is alpine authenticity!

Say cheese: Gstaad

Tradition, modernity and nature come together in the capital of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Biel/Bienne is a multi-faceted city: a little bit Swiss, a little bit French, modern and traditional alike. German and French are equally spoken here. In contrast to the modern architecture on the shores of Lake Biel, the intact old town sits on a gentle hill. As early as the 19th century, the watchmaking industry began to develop in the city of Biel.
